The Itsy Bitsy Spider

Are you afraid of spiders? I've always said that I'm not. I feel like if my foot is bigger than the spider, I don't have a problem. Just smash it with my shoe, and it's over. I've always been proud to say that I'm not afraid of them. Well, I think I have changed my mind after seeing this! This is commonly called a banana spider. Crazy big right?! And this isn't even the biggest they get. Kevin has seen one bigger. Ick!

Breakfast Time

Breakfast has long been considered the most important meal of the day, and according to my poll many of you agree. I can't believe some of you still don't eat breakfast. You really should!

My favorite type of breakfast is pancakes, but I will be satisfied with a waffle or french toast. I guess if I can pour syrup over it, I am happy. I can't eat cold cereal for breakfast. Well at least not early in the morning. I think it's because my mom took such good care of us when we were younger. We only had cold cereal on Saturdays and Sundays and not even all of them (sometimes Dad fixed breakfast!). My mom would fix us pancakes or eggs or hot cereal for breakfast before school. I still remember when she went through this creative phase and made some really interesting meals including the camel's eye which I still sometimes enjoy today. What is a camel's eye? Well it has several different names, I've heard, but you simply take a piece of bread, punch a hole in it, and cook and egg on a pan. We loved it when we were younger. Thank you Mom for all of the great breakfasts!

Thanks for all of you who participated in this week's poll. Keep telling me what you think!

Go Braves

I am a huge Atlanta Braves fan. I have loved them for years. And the last five have been pretty rough. After 15 straight Divisional titles and trips to the playoffs, the Braves had along drought. I expected so much each year and was disappointed each time. The Braves have finally made it back to the playoffs. Yes it's true, they barely made it with the wild card, but the playoffs are the playoffs. I am excited. Go Braves!

Bath Time with Brynnlee

Brynnlee is learning to have a lot of fun at bath time. She floats around in the water swishing her hair around and has been making the bath tub into a water slide. The tub isn't quite big enough to be a slide, but she can make a big splash. Brynnlee has a lot of fun with her tub toys. It is fun to listen at the door to the little "conversations" they are having. Just the other day I heard kissy noises while I was eavesdropping. I walked into the bathroom and was amazed with what I saw. Take a look at what Brynnlee has been doing lately!

Marker Madness

I bought Brynnlee some cute little Crayola markers and construction paper for a little bit of fun. I did not however realize what a mess she would turn it into. Don't get me wrong, I knew it would be messy....that is why she is wearing a smock. Did I however realize that she would paint her face with marker? No...I guess I should have known better.

(She looks like she is being arrested!)

At least I have this to hang on my fridge!

Favorite Season

The results of my poll are in! Fall seems to be the favorite season of yours. There were some summer votes and one for spring. I have to admit....fall is my favorite too. Thanks for voting! And don't forget to vote on this week's poll.

Who are You?

I love having a blog and sharing a glimpse of our lives--especially now that we live so far away. I also love checking out other friends' and family members' blogs. It is so fun to see what people are doing and thinking.

When we lived in Logan, I had my blog private. I was teaching at the time and didn't want anyone to be offended by what I was saying or doing. Well, that sounds like I was doing something crazy, but what I mean is that I didn't want to mention something that had happened at school and have a student or parent come across my blog and be mad about what I shared. When we moved to Colorado Springs, I made our blog open, and it has stayed that way since. I don't want to make it private again because it is easier for my family to check out what we are doing. AND I want them to know what we are doing. It is the easiest way to explain what is going on in our lives.

I notice that some days I have many visitors, and I recognize several of you. I also don't know who many of you are. So my long-winded post is leading to this request.......please leave a comment on this post and let me know who you are and if you have a blog let me know about that too. This is simply for my peace of mind. I won't even publish the comment if you don't want me to!

I love sharing our lives with you!

Pumpkin Garland

Fall is definitely not in the air in Okinawa! So I have decided to try to bring it inside. Because we are still waiting for our belongings to show up here, I have none of my fall decorations. I had to do something! I saw this pumpkin garland idea on the blog A Glimpse Inside (You can find the link on Some of My Favorites). I thought it was adorable and decided to make it. It wasn't difficult at all. And believe it or not, the pumpkins are made of toilet paper rolls!

Sorry....

I guess I have been messing with my font and making it hard to read some of my posts! Sorry. One day I will become a genius with computers, fonts, graphics, and all of the cool things that technology offers us. Until then, please be patient with me!

Brynnlee's New Bed

We recently changed Brynnlee's crib into a toddler bed because she did NOT want to sleep in the crib. Well, it turns out that she didn't want to sleep in her toddler bed either. She kept asking to sleep in the twin bed we had borrowed from the Air Force. Kevin and I decided to make the BIG move. We bought Brynnlee her first twin bed and matching dresser. She loves it! She now goes to bed easily and sleeps past 5 am. The best part? She can't get out of it on her own. There is no pitter-patter of little feet coming toward my room in the middle of the night.
